Support Change for Charity through CGSI.

Making a positive impact on someone’s life need not be complicated.

The COVID-19 pandemic, while devastating in its impact both economically and socially, has brought forth our true Singaporean spirit. Together as a nation, we stand united and donated generously to support the most vulnerable amongst us in our community.

Through our partnership with Community Chest, CGSI aims to further this spirit of altruism and bring sunshine to those who need it most. The Change for Charity programme, a nationally-backed initiative, aims to promote a culture of giving, where donating becomes a part of our everyday life.

Your donations will be matched and multiplied. Both the Singapore Government and CGSI will match your donations*, making your contributions count. Donations made to Community Chest will be eligible for 250% tax deductions. Go ahead, donate an amount that you are comfortable with today and uplift the lives of individuals who need assistance!

Together, let’s create a culture of giving and building a sustainable future so we can all prosper as one.

FAQ

This fundraising collaboration between CGS International Securities Singapore Pte. Ltd. (“CGSI”) and the Community Chest of Singapore (“ComChest”) is a three-year arrangement that begins this April 2022 to 2025.

100% of funds received through the Change for Charity initiative will go towards supporting over 100 social service agencies and more than 200 critical programmes across five causes:

  • Adults with disabilities
  • Children with special needs and youth-at-risk
  • Families in need of assistance
  • Persons with mental health conditions
  • Seniors in need of support

We are collaborating exclusively with Community Chest and all donations will be channeled to more than 100 social service agencies supported by Community Chest, to sustain their critical services for communities who need it.

Community Chest is the fundraising and engagement arm of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS). As the hallmark of care and share, Community Chest has been uniting the community to mobilise resources and raise funds to serve those in need since 1983.

Community Chest supports more than 100 social service agencies to meet underserved and critical social needs. As our fundraising and operating costs are covered mainly by Tote Board, 100% of your contributions goes towards empowering the lives of children with special needs, youth-at-risk, adults with disabilities, persons with mental health conditions and families and seniors in need of support.

The Change for Charity initiative is launched by Community Chest to encourage individuals to give through spontaneous acts, as part of their daily lives. In this initiative, Community Chest partners businesses to weave giving into their business models, to provide opportunities for individuals to donate to support communities in need of assistance.

Besides encouraging individuals to give through consumption transactions, the Change for Charity Grant was set up to encourage businesses to match donations from their customers, as part of their corporate giving.

Government will match $0.50^ to every dollar donated by consumers through CGSI’s iTrade and ProsperUs. Under the Enhanced Matching Grant, the Government will match an additional $0.50* for every dollar that CGSI match for our customers’ donations.

Through this, a total of $3 is raised for every dollar donated by the customer

^This is capped at $25,000 per business per year.

*This is capped at $25,000 per business per year or the amount the business matches, whichever is lower

CGSI will provide the relevant tax information to ComChest, and ComChest will process tax deduction on behalf of eligible donors.

The Government of Singapore continues to encourage Singaporeans to give back to the community and provide strong support for the charity sector. In this light, the Minister for Finance has announced in Budget 2021 that the 250% tax deduction for qualifying donations will be extended for another two years until 31 December 2023.
